SCBA Certification Training held at the St. Johnsville Elementary School on September 20, 2005

The St. Johnsville Fire Department SCBA Certification Course is a labor intensive Fire Training Scenario which incorporates 13 stations that include, 5" Supply Hose Drag and Hydrant Make-up, Roof Access exercise with High-rise Kit, Roof raise exercise, Firefighter 3rd floor rapelling escape exercise, 85' Ladder Climb, Ventilation Exercise, Forcible Entry Exercise, Ladder Raise, Rafter Crawl, Confined Space Scuttle Hole Exercise, Attak Line exercise and 175# Victim Drag.

This Certification Class must be completed in order for a Probationary firefighter or lower level firefighter to proceed to the next level, as well as by Class (A) Firefighters annually in order for them to keep their Class (A) Certification.

This course is run as a contiuous evolution in full turnout gear including SCBA and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Prior to the completion of this Certification Course each Firefighter is annually Fit Tested using their respective SCBA Facemask and complete an annual OSHA required Medical Evaluation.

This course requires extreme stamina and physical ability.
