Gary Swartz

Gary Swartz passed away on March 18th, 2008 after a battle with cancer. Gary was a driving force in making the St. Johnsville Fire Department what it is today. His hard work, dedication and compassion will stand as a reminder for all who knew and loved him. Gary served as Fire Chief for a period of 17 years

Gary became a member of the St. Johnsville Fire Department on January 28th  of 1963. In his 45 years of service to the Fire Department, Gary served as Assistant Chief, Fire Chief, and Fire Council Member.

We will all miss Gary, a true Friend, a true Man, a true Leader and a true Firefighter.

Gary's  family and the St. Johnsville Fire Department would like to thank the Fort Plain Fire Department, South Minden Fire Department,  Montgomery County Fire Coordinator Gary Nestle and especially the Canajoharie Fire Department for the use of their Tower Ladder in helping us for helping us honor Gary. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
